Remembrances of Ncontracts Product & Development Team Members
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world in many ways, perhaps none as impactful as reminding us of the fragility of life. When you have a close-knit work environment, the loss of a coworker stings a bit deeper and the grief lasts longer. It’s never easy to say goodbye, especially to those that we work with on a regular basis. We’ve made this space to celebrate the life & accomplishments of team members that have made an impact on Ncontracts and the world at large through their professional and personal contributions.
RC lost his battle with pneumonia caused by covid April 17, 2021. A valued member of the Ops team, he was with Ncontracts for 1.5 years, but has worked with other members of the Ncontracts Product and Design org for over a decade. In his time with Ncontracts, almost everyone in the organization can happily say that they’ve interacted with him at one time or another, whether it was a large infrastructure project, migration of their accounts, or just fixing a small issue.
He will be missed by all. To help his family through this loss, a GoFundMe has been created.
Following are some excerpts from his April 2021 Employee Spotlight:
How did you find your way to Ncontracts and how long have you been here?
Before Ncontracts, I worked a contract position for HCA Healthcare. The contract was terminated, and I was in the job market. A good friend, and someone I worked with in the past (Mike Woods), called me about an opening at Ncontracts. I heard some of the Jack Henry crew was working there, and I was all in. I interviewed with Jon and the others and was offered the job a day or so later. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made and came at a time when my family was struggling. I honestly wondered if I was washed up at the time, and not having a job was very tough on us.
I just passed 1 year in November and, while tough, I’ve had the chance to meet some incredible people and change peoples’ lives. The team we built is awesome, and we have fun every day. I even wrote a post about our chosen family on Linkedin. I think it explains how I feel very well. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/activity-6755349618684420096-YOGg
I thought I hit my peak in IT a while back, and I had no idea that my career hadn’t yet begun. I look forward to every day. It’s exciting, I’m constantly learning, and I get to spend my days with so many good people. People is what motivates me and without people, it just doesn’t make sense.
Of the 9 motivators in life – which do you most align with and why?
Obviously, “Creatively expressing your authentic self—warts and all—to the world”. I know I am different, and I’ve known that since I was young. I don’t hide it, and I wish others wouldn’t either. Some people are way too hard on themselves and others are too stressed out. Some hide and protect themselves and almost all are hurt in some way. I wish people would stop being so judgmental and so cruel. A little kindness and empathy goes a long way. We all have our issues, and we all have problems. No one is perfect and when people stop pretending to be anything other than themselves, they will find true happiness and acceptance.
